Named for Mormon settlers Erastus Snow and William Flake sent to the area in 1878 by Brigham Young, the "Old Southwest" atmosphere remains in this town in the Silver Creek valley, with some of the remaining original homes on the Historical Register. On the picturesque Northern Plateau at the hub of the White Mountains, visitors enjoy a moderate climate and activities such as golf, hiking, fishing and hunting. History buffs appreciate touring museums and pioneer homes, and viewing Indian petroglyphs on the walls of Silver Creek Canyon and ruins on Black Mesa. Area attractions include Petrified Forest National Park, Monument Valley and the Sunrise Ski Resort.

This lovely 1890 2-story Victorian has been lovingly restored and redecorated in period antiques by the hosts. Lush grounds offer trees and flowers, patio with fountain and BBQ grill, 8-person hot tub and seating areas for relaxing. Area attractions include a Mormon Temple, golf, hiking and bird watching, skiing and horseback riding, fishing in the White Mountains, the Petrified Forest and the Painted Desert. Eleven lovely rooms furnished in antiques each have queen bed, private bath with shower in claw-foot tubs (2 with whirlpool tub), gas fireplace, satellite TV, coffee/tea service and phone. Available to guests is an exercise room and laundry room. Full gourmet breakfast. Children welcome, no pets, smoking outdoors only. $60-120 plus tax, add $25 for cot for small child.
