The canyon displays rugged, brilliantly colored red rhyolite cliffs climbing to almost 10,000 feet above the canyon floor.  It is prime habitat for hundreds of bird varieties, drawing birders from around the world.  Rich with flora and fauna, photography and hiking are popular.
