Bed and Breakfast and Lodging Reservation Service

Globe/Miami, Arizona

The two mining communities of Globe and Miami lie four miles apart in a steep canyon in the Pinal Mountains. Important copper mining centers for more than a century, the third-largest open pit mine in the world is located here.  This artistic community rich in turn-of-the-centruy buildings serves as the terminus of two scenic highways, US 60 through Devil’s Canyon and the Apache Trail leading to nearby Theodore Roosevelt Lake Recreation Area. Nearby attractions include Tonto National Monument, Apache Gold Casino and the 18-hole Apache Stronghold golf course. Just south of Globe, the Besh-ba-Gowah Archaeological Park contains an extensive Salado Indian ruin and museum. Besh-ba-Gowah is an Apache word meaning "metal camp". Toward Phoenix is the Boyce Thompson Southwestern Arboretum, which features the world's greatest collection of desert plant life, with two miles of easy walking trails leading you past some 10,000 specimens.
