Once the home of
the original Hohokam Indians, visitors find plenty of open spaces in
this tranquil southwestern community. Outdoor recreation includes
golf, hiking at the Cave Creek Recreation Area, and guided horseback
rides at local ranches. Galleries, shops and trading posts offer
western articles and custom jewelry by local artists. Ten miles north
of town is the 1883 Cave Creek Mistress Gold Mine with an old-style
rock shop and museum exhibiting antique mining articles.
Abundant wildlife
includes roadrunners and Gambel quail, javalina and coyotes. There are
numerous opportunities for swimming, hiking, fishing, and boating in
area lakes and Tonto National
Forest.

close but country quiet." This is an outstanding area to see the
blooming desert in March, April and May. This is in a rural setting in a scenic area
near Black Mountain, where all of the houses are on an acre or more,
this 3,200 square foot house has five
bedrooms, three of which are available for B&B. Contemporary and
antique decor. It is within walking distance of
the edge of the town of Carefree. The
master bedroom ($110) has a king bed, bath with shower, TV. Room
2 ($100) has a full size bed with an antique brass headboard, twin bed
with antique brass headboard,
shared hall bath with tub and shower. Room 3 ($100) has a double
bed with handsome 135-year old headboard, and shares the
hall bath with tub and shower. Can
accommodate up to 7 guests. Three-night minimum. Smoking
outside, well behaved dog possible, well-behaved children over 6 years welcome.
Conversational Spanish spoken $100.-$110. $25/day for third person in
Room 2.
