"A secluded,
romantic retreat with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets." On top of a hill surrounded
by 20 acres, this unique two-story arched adobe brick home of Spanish Moorish design
offers spectacular views of Las Cruces, Mesilla Valley and the Organ and Dona Ana
Mountains. It was built in 1966, features massive windows and has huge beams salvaged from
the old train roundhouse demolished in El Paso during the 1950s. Go for tranquil walks
around the property, or for those who like a morning jog, run on trails with spectacular
views. Enjoy the clean air, and hear the birds sing, watch the hummingbirds, quail and
roadrunners. You might get a peek at the giant jackrabbits who show up occasionally. Stay
cool in the summer and relax with iced tea or coffee on the beautiful wide patios while
enjoying spectacular sunrises and sunsets. In the winter, be warmed by the fireside in the
comfortable sitting room with cable TV, video collection, and lots of reading books
including a Southwestern library. Minutes to downtown Las Cruces and Old Mesilla. Las
Cruces is one hour's drive north of El Paso Airport, three hours drive south of
Albuquerque. Local excursions might include the White Sands National Monument,
International Space Museum/IMAX Theater, Gila Cliff Dwellings, Rock Hound State Park, Fort
Seldon, Cloudcroft/Ruidoso, Elephant Butte Lake, El Paso and Juarez, Mexico
(shopping/restaurants). Location: Near La Reina and Westmoreland
Amenities: There are three spacious and charmingly appointed guest rooms on the
first floor. One room has a king bed; the other two rooms each have a queen bed. Each has
a large private bath, telephone, full-length mirror, large closet, writing desk, iron,
ironing board and a view of the surrounding gardens. A charming alcove dining room has
territorial style furniture, beamed ceiling, brick walls, and Saltillo floor tile. While
waiting for breakfast, guests can take a stroll out to their "inspiration
points" on the property and enjoy their four-cups-of-coffee panoramic view.
