This inn is located at an elevation of 5,200 ft., in the heart of Madera Canyon
in the Santa Rita Mountains forty miles southeast of Tucson. Renowned for its outstanding
scenic beauty, diverse plant and animal life, Madera Canyon attracts those who are bird
watchers, nature lovers, hiking and biking enthusiasts. A spring fed stream and high
canyon walls provide Madera Canyon with a moist, cool, shady environment unusual in the
desert Southwest. The lush riparian environment provides the perfect habitat for over 200
species of birds. Commonly seen are five to seven species of hummingbirds. Madera Canyon
is popular with hikers. Hiking opportunities range from an easy walk to an invigorating
5-mile round trip to Josephine Saddle at 7,600 ft. elevation, or for adventurous and fit
hikers, a 10.8 mile round trip which peaks at 9,453 ft. elevation. The inn is on ¬ acre
surrounded by National Forest. Guests enjoy the private patio area on Madera Creek to
read, relax in the hammock or update their bird lists. A lovely outdoor barbecue and fire
pit is provided for guests' enjoyment. There are numerous restaurants and grocery stores
14 miles away in Green Valley. Area attractions include Nogales (Mexico), Historic
Tombstone and Bisbee, and the artist community at Tubac.
Location: 13 miles south of Continental Road and White House Canyon Road
Amenities: AC. Central heat. The three guest rooms accommodations each have a
private entrance, private shower bath, and kitchenette with microwave, mini-refrigerator,
coffee maker, toaster, single small sink.
The "Hummingbird Suite" ($130) has a queen bed and cozy sitting room. A
roll-away bed can be provided to accommodate a third guest.
The "Bird Nest Room" ($110) has a queen size iron canopy bed draped in sheer
curtains and patio.
The "Cowboy Room" ($110) has a queen four poster bed and patio area on Madera
Creek.
Rates: $110-130. Minimum stay of 2 nights on weekends.
Breakfast: Full gourmet in the privacy of your room. Special dietary requirements
can be accommodated with prior notice.
Pets in Home: Small dog, "Mister T"; Australian Shepherd,
"Mattie".
Restrictions: Smoking outside only, no pets. Children 12+ welcome.
Reservations: Will be held for ten days pending receipt of payment. VISA, personal
check, cash and travelers checks are accepted.
Arrival and Departure: Check in between 3-6 p.m. Prior arrangements can be made for
late arrivals. Check out 11 a.m.
Deposit and Cancellation Policies: Pre-payment in full for one night's stay, or of 50% of the total for stays of 2 nights or more required at time of reservation. The balance is due to the host in cash or travelers checks upon arrival (or by credit card if host accepts them). At the time the reservation is confirmed, we charge a service fee of $10 for bookings.
If you must cancel a reservation, your deposit (less a
$25 processing fee) will be refunded only if we are notified 30 days or more before your
arrival. If you cancel 14- 30 days before arrival, we will transfer your deposit to
another date. Cancellations received less that 14 days before arrival are non-refundable
and non-transferable. Guests are responsible for payment of all nights rented regardless
of actual arrival or departure date. No refunds for groups who reserve several rooms.
