This two-story house with arched windows was built in 1916 as the private
residence of the Chief Surgeon in what was once a roaring copper mining camp. Today,
Jerome is a Historic National Landmark and thriving artists' community.
The Surgeon's House offers informal elegance and relaxed hospitality, private landscaped
yards with colorful year-round flower beds, and panoramic views of the Verde Valley. After
falling into disrepair in the years following the closing of the mine, the charming white
stucco house with red tile roof, walks and terraces and rich hardwood floors plus the
detached cottage have been lovingly restored to their original beauty. It has been on the
National Historic Registry since 1966.
Location: On a sharply angled private drive that goes up a hill for a half block above
State Route 89A
Amenities: Evaporative cooling, ceiling fans. The main house guest rooms are on the
second floor.
The "Maid's Suite" is a two room suite, one room with a view of the mountains
and the other with a view of the Verde Valley. The front room ($125) has a king size bed,
and the back room ($100) has a queen. It features beautiful antiques, a seating area, and
two private shower baths. May be rented as a suite ($225) or as individual rooms.
The "Master Suite" has a bedroom with king size bed, a sitting room with a
double day bed, dressing room, balcony with a view of the Verde Valley, and bath with tub
and shower en suite. One or two persons $150, three persons $175, four persons $200.
Nestled above the garage away from the main house is the "Chauffeur's Quarters"
guest cottage with a king bed, bath with tub and shower, kitchenette, sitting area, and
lush secluded patio. ($150.) Guests are welcome to use the sunroom, dining room, kitchen
and the living room.
Complimentary beverages and homemade snacks. Massage offered with 24-hour notice. Personal
walking tours available.
Hostess interests: gardening, cooking
Rates: $100-225. Does not include tax and gratuity.
Breakfast: Kitchen opens at 6 a.m. for coffee and beverages. Multi-course gourmet
served promptly at 8:30 a.m. Special dietary needs can be met with prior arrangement.
Pets in Home: 2 cats, two lovebirds
Maximum Number of Guests: 10
Meeting facilities: A small meeting, weddings and receptions outdoors with up to 50
guests
Restrictions: Smoking outside, children negotiable, pet allowed with notice.

Deposit/cancellation policy: Credit card number required to hold reservation. Cancellations within 4 days of scheduled arrival are charged full rate and full duration of reservation to your credit card AND you are issued a gift certificate, transferable and valid for 6 months. All cancellations are subject to a $25 service fee.
