who love flowers should bring their cameras to this B&B! It offers
one of the largest variety of colorful flowers imaginable outside a
commercial flower nursery. At the Surgeon’s House, you will find
informal elegance and relaxed hospitality, private landscaped yards
with colorful flowers and panoramic views of the Verde Valley.
Arthur
Kelly, noted Los Angeles architect, designed the house with arched
windows, gleaming stucco, and red tile roofs as a home for the United
Verde Copper Company’s Chief Surgeon. Built in 1916, this house has
been on the National Historic Registry since 1966.
After
falling into disrepair in the years following the closing of the mine,
the charming white stucco house with red tile roof, walks and terraces
and rich hardwood floors plus the detached cottage have been lovingly
restored to their original beauty, by the hostess, Andrea Prince.
Location:
On a sharply angled private drive that goes up a hill for a half block
above State Route 89A
Amenities:
Guests have access to all the common areas of the home and the
grounds. Guest rooms are on the second floors of two buildings. All
rooms in the main house are provided with hi-speed wifi. Included in
the rates is a delectable breakfast buffet, homemade snacks,
complimentary beverages, and self-serve carryout!
The
Master Suite: The largest suite
features a King bed, private bath with tub and shower, dressing room,
sitting room with a double day bed, and private balcony. This suite
can accommodate up to four. $175 for 2
The
Maid's Suite: The
fabulous Maid's Suite consists of two adjoining bedrooms each with its
own private bathroom (shower only). The Maid's Suite Front has a King
bed, sitting area, and is the only room with both a view out over the
valley and the north garden area. Guests remark that it's like being
in a tree house. The Maid's Suite Back with a Queen bed, a Euro-bath,
and a mountain view is the smallest of the suites and perhaps the
coziest. A recent fun addition is a faux ocean view - wait until you

The
Chauffeur's Quarters:
If you are looking for added privacy, Andrea offers the Chauffeur's
Quarters. This inviting suite is nestled above the garage away from
the main house. It features a King bed, private bath with tub and
shower, kitchenette, sky lights, and it's own secluded, lushly
landscaped patio. The recent addition of the roomy rooftop garden
provides this suite with a relaxing, comfortable spot to enjoy our
world famous red rock views. It's spectacular! $195
Hostess
interests: hospitality,
gardening, cooking.
Rates:
$120-$195. Rates do not include tax and gratuities and are
based on 1 or 2 persons. For longer stays, ask about the personalized
weekly rates.
Additional
Guests: Bedding and
breakfast accommodation for additional guests in your suite (space
permitting) is available at $45 per person. You may invite visitors to
join you for breakfast at a cost of $17.50 each, with 12 hours notice.
Breakfast:
The kitchen opens each morning just after sunrise (about 6:30 a.m.)
for hot beverages. There are superior coffees, teas, and homemade
cocoa.
Enjoy
breakfast buffet served at 8:30 a.m. in the dining room. You may also
opt to enjoy your meal on the main patio while you enjoy the marvelous
Arizona panorama. If you have specific dietary needs, please discuss
them at the time you make your reservation.
Midnight
snacks are on the kitchen counter and complimentary beverages are in
the refrigerator. Hot beverages are available in the a.m. only.
Arrival:
We want you to arrive
as easily and effortlessly as possible. Since navigation in Jerome can
be dicey, please print the map from your confirmation and bring it
with you.
Check
in: Check in between
4:00 and 6:00 p.m. at the red front door that faces the driveway and
overlooks the Verde Valley.
Check
out is 11:00 a.m.
Early
check in: Check-in as
early as 12:30 p.m. may be arranged in advance at an additional cost
of $50. Late checkout (1:00 p.m.) is also available for $50. Please
remember that if you request early check-in, we are ready for you at
12:30 and you are responsible for the early check-in charge regardless
of when you actually arrive.
If
you arrive after 6:00 p.m. or
if Andrea is temporarily unavailable, you will find self check-in
instructions on the parking area gate. Simply remove and read your
envelope and follow the self check-in map.
When
you check in, leave your luggage
in your vehicle. Andrea will show you the easy way to bring it in. If
you park in the parking area before 4:00 p.m., please display your
confirmation on the dash or other easily visible spot so Andrea will
know you are a guest. Parking is at a premium everywhere in Jerome!
Fortunately, we have recently reconfigured our parking area so that we
now have three inside and three outside spaces! Please fill the inside
spaces first if they are available.

offer cooking, food prep, assembly, or kitchen storage privileges.

about reservations for fun extras:
In-house
massage is available by
appointment - $75 to $100, depending on available therapist for an
ample hour plus. Couple's massages are extraordinary and require ample
advance scheduling - $125 per person for nearly two hours - and are
done in the therapist's amazing panoramic studio, rather than en
suite.
Verde
Canyon Excursion Train: A
trip on the Verde Canyon Railroad is also available. The four-hour
scenic ride along the Verde River Canyon, aptly considered by many as
Arizona's other Grand Canyon, takes you from past centuries, through a
wildlife refuge, to a working ranch of today.
