The discovery of gold, silver and copper attracted miners to Globe from around the world. The quaint downtown, along with nearby Miami and Superior, offers a nice variety to antique shoppers. The 1907 building was formerly a schoolhouse, where generations of successful Arizonans were educated, including a former Governor of Arizona. Restored to rustic elegance, this majestic building reigns over the city from its hill top location. The guest rooms are the largest imaginable as they were former classrooms, one room for each grade. The miner size portions of the hearty Southwestern-style breakfast can be walked off by hiking to the Old Dominion Mine, or perhaps a hike through the Copper Hills behind the school.  Area attractions include Besh-Ba-Gowah Indian Ruins, Roosevelt Lake and Dam, Goldfield and Copper Hills ghost towns, Sunrise Ski Resort and the Boyce Thompson Arboretum.
