Built of energy-efficient "strawbale" construction, this five acre ranchette sits at 4,200 feet with a view of the Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains from the front porch swing. The house has an R rating of R-60, and is very comfortable and quiet. A gas fireplace keeps the house warm in the winter and an all-house fan keeps it comfortable in the summer. A guest enjoy soaking in the hot tub and watching brilliant sunsets plus the many birds and butterflies that feed on the patio. Area attractions include golf, hiking, Southwest Indian Museum and Gallery, Whitewater Draw Wildlife Area, Ft. Bowei, the annual festival of bird watching featuring Sandhill cranes, Kartchner Caverns and Cochise Stronghold.
Each evening, a special desert is served with a variety of hot or cold drinks. Guests are welcomed to enjoy the library of magazines, books and movies.
Location: Richland Ranchettes, 5 miles north of Sunsites
Amenities: There are two guestrooms, which share a bath. Upon request a room can be reserved with private bath and the other room will not be rented. The Old West Room has a full size antique four-post bed. The Railroad Room has a queen bed and features an operating train on a small shelf around the top of the room, a collection of the host's since he was a small boy.
Host interests: gardening, sewing, crafts, trains, woodworking
Rates: $85 with shared bath, $105 with private bath
Breakfast: Full with a variety of selections. Sample of house specialties includes Mexican egg burritos, pecan topped French toast, southwest black bean skillet, Spanish fritatta and cinnamon rolls. Special dietary restrictions accommodated.
Pets in home: A little shih tzu and a lady feline who do not go in guest quarters.
Maximum number of guests: 4
Minimum stay: One night
Restrictions: Smoking outside, no alcoholic beverages or pets. Children over twelve years of age are welcome.
Deposit and Cancellation Policies: Pre-payment of one night plus 50% of the remaining nights is required at time of reservation. The balance is due to the host in cash or travelers checks upon arrival.
Mi Casa Su Casa accepts personal and business checks, and major credit cards. Reservations may be held with a credit card number, pending receipt of a check, if this method of deposit is preferred.
For a refund of deposit, cancellation notice must be received 14 or more days prior to arrival date. All cancellations are subject to a $25 service charge. For stays during high season, holidays or special events, or for stays of a week or more, cancellation must be received 30 days prior to arrival date.
